Listed below are the ways that students can make-up work for various reasons including absences from school due to illness, clinical appointments, group sessions, and resource or I.S.S. placements.
Excused Absence from School I allow students up to 5 days to make up any missing work. When the student returns to class, I provide them with a packet that includes a cover slip and the assignments missed. The cover slip will have directions as to what the student needs to do in order to make up assignments that were missed. Any labs or activities that can only be completed in class are excused when the absence is excused. Students will also receive full participation points for the day although they were not present to gain points for the day.
Clinical Appointments, Group Sessions or Other Appointments When students have appointments or group sessions, they are to report to class first to get their point sheet signed, as well as pick up any work they will miss. I attach this work to their point sheet and expect that it will be done for homework to be turned in the next day (this may be extended based on the student's individual needs). Any labs or activities that can only be completed in class are excused when absent due to clinical appointments or group sessions. Students will also receive full participation points for the day although they were not present to gain points for the day.
Resource/Time-Out I allow students 1 day
to make up any missing work (this also may be extended based on the
student's individual needs). When the student returns to class, I
provide them with a packet that includes a cover slip and the
assignments missed. The cover slip will have directions as to what the
student needs to do in order to make up assignments that were missed.
Any labs or activities that can only be completed in class are NOT excused when absent due to being placed in resource or time-out. Students also lose participation points for the day if they were not present to gain points for the day.
In School Intervention I provide students placed in I.S.I. with the work they will miss for the class period. These assignments are expected to be completed during their time in I.S.I. and should be turned in the next time the student is in class. Any labs or activities that can only be completed in class are NOT excused when absent due to being placed in I.S.I. Students also lose participation points for the day if they were not
present to gain points for the day.
