As one of the final activities for the book, Holes, students learned about different animals that live in the desert. Students then picked an animal and created desert craft creatures by sewing and using felt, string, and stuffing!

Students in my social studies class have been conducting research about people who played a part during the Revolutionary War. Students were given certain qualities that they needed research for their assigned person. It was left up to the students to use their creativity to put together a visually pleasing cereal box that told viewers all about their researched person and their important contributions to the Revolutionary War. My students and I are really proud of how these boxes turned out! They are now on display in the media center for the school to enjoy.

In Holes, the characters come across jars of spiced peaches, which they name "Sploosh." My students learned about making a recipe and the importance of having specific ingredients and directions listed as they worked together to make "sploosh" (or spiced peaches) in class! The kids are very excited to try it out tomorrow as it cools in the fridge tonight!
